Last spring, I was fortunate to walk the Camino del Norte, a grueling route of over 500 miles across Spain’s northern coast. Let me tell you, it is not your casual weekend stroll. It is days of steep climbs that burn your legs, descents that pound your knees, and blisters that make you wonder why on earth you thought this was a good idea. And yet, every step forces you into a rhythm that’s equal parts exhausting and meditative.
The Camino has a way of working on you. People greet each other with “Buen Camino,” literally “good way.” At first, it’s just a polite hello. But after a while, it becomes something more. Those two words aren’t about the path you are walking: they are a blessing for the journey you are on, inside and out.
Even months later, the gifts of that experience are still unfolding for me. And here’s the thing: those gifts were not limited to sore muscles and breathtaking views. They were lessons about life, about self-discovery, and about the truth that has been whispering to us all along, every single answer we have ever looked for is already inside us.
You are the way. I am the way. We have been the way all along. The path forward isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about peeling back the layers you have outgrown so you can finally see who you have been all along. And here’s the thing, your answers are not in the next self-help book, the next big workshop, or the next “perfect” plan. They are already in you. Always have been.
So, if something in your life feels off… if your body is whispering (or yelling) that something is out of balance… if the life you are living doesn’t quite feel like it fits, there is a reason for it. That reason is worth exploring. Not from a place of “fixing” yourself, because you are not broken, but from a place of curiosity. Who am I, really? What’s underneath the noise, the expectations, the conditioning?
The Camino was my teacher in that lesson. Your “Camino” might look completely different. It could be found in stillness, in travel, in creativity, in conversations that crack you open. It can be found in the moment you stop looking outside yourself for answers and start trusting the quiet, steady voice within.
And that is the invitation, to walk your own way. To see what unfolds when you trust it. Because the truth is, you have been the way all along. And the sooner you realize that the sooner life starts to feel like it is finally yours.
